Therapeutic Preparation
with
CAAPABLE
comprehensive
adolescent/adult
preparation
for a better
life experience
It is the goal of the CAAPABLE program to prepare adolescents and adults with ASD and related disorders by building foundational skills through individual and group therapies. We focus on:

-
Insight into oneself: The exploration of strengths and weaknesses (through comprehensive evaluation), values, and ways in which one can make a living; to support self-determination and educational / job-related decision making.
-
Skill building: Social and communication skills, executive function strategies (e.g., planning organization, initiation), and independent living skills.
-
Coping: Psychotherapy (utilizing cognitive behavioral and acceptance- commitment therapy techniques). We address awareness of thoughts and emotions, acceptance, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, developing evidence-based thought and problem-solving, and taking committed action.
In addition to in-house therapies, we offer Training for High School and college staff in the SOS: Social Skills in Our Schools transition program (a multi-year program to help schools prepare their students with ASD to effectively transition to work or further education).
